Japanese kanji: fourth year of primary school
The kanji taught in the fourth year of Japanese primary school (the kyōiku list, 202 characters in the official programme); this deck holds 201 of them, one having been dropped in review. The front of the card is the character on its own. The back gives its main meanings, then its on readings in katakana and its kun readings in hiragana. In a kun reading the dot separates what the kanji itself writes from the okurigana that follows it: 高.い is read takai and written 高い. The order of the cards comes from the source data and cannot be checked from this file, so no ordering is claimed.

Este mazo se modificó al incorporarlo: Extracted from KANJIDIC2 and reworked by Memoquiz. (1) Fields used: the character itself, its school grade, its English, French, Spanish and Portuguese meanings, and its ja_on and ja_kun readings. Everything else in the file is deliberately left out, including the SKIP codes, which their author placed under a NonCommercial licence in 2014, as well as the De Roo codes, the Spahn & Hadamitzky descriptors, the Halpern and Morohashi indexes and the Korean, Vietnamese and pinyin readings. (2) Selection: only the kanji of one school grade, ordered by the newspaper frequency index of KANJIDIC2, which is used for ordering only and never shown. A kanji with no meaning in the language of this deck is left out; a meaning is never translated from another language. (3) Meanings: at most three per card. Glosses that are affix fragments, that carry an unclosed bracket, or that point at another entry in Japanese script are dropped. A missing space before an opening bracket is inserted. An initial capital is kept only when the same kanji is also capitalised in at least two of the four languages, which marks a proper noun; otherwise it is lowered, because the case of a gloss is a typographic convention and not a fact. A short named list of faulty glosses is removed rather than corrected. Lost superscripts are restored (10**16 becomes 10¹⁶), and the adjectives of nationality and religion are given back the capital English always writes them with. (4) Readings: at most two on readings and three kun readings, and never a reading marked with a hyphen, which in KANJIDIC2 signals a form used only as a prefix or a suffix. The okurigana dot is kept. (5) The whole back of a card is capped at 96 characters so that the answer can be recalled and graded. (6) Review removals: 阜 was taken out of the deck because one of its source glosses, "left village radical (no. 170)", is a pointer to a Nelson radical number rather than a meaning; a faulty gloss is removed, never rewritten, and here removing it was done by dropping the card.
