Fünf Karten aus diesem Stapel

Unverändert aus dem veröffentlichten Archiv entnommen. Eine Stapelseite ohne eine einzige Karte sagt nichts.

  • Vorderseite accretion disk
Rückseite the disk of gas and dust found orbiting newborn stars, as well as compact stellar remnants such as white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes when they are in binary systems and are sufficiently close to their binary companions to draw off material
  • Vorderseite active galactic nuclei (AGN)
Rückseite galaxies that are almost as luminous as quasars and share many of their properties, although to a less spectacular degree; abnormal amounts of energy are produced in their centers
  • Vorderseite active galaxies
Rückseite galaxies that house active galactic nuclei
  • Vorderseite anthropic principle
Rückseite idea that physical laws must be the way they are because otherwise we could not be here to measure them
  • Vorderseite astrobiology
Rückseite the multidisciplinary study of life in the universe: its origin, evolution, distribution, and fate; similar terms are exobiology and bioastronomy

Dieser Stapel wurde bei der Aufnahme verändert: Entries were taken from the end-of-chapter glossaries of chapters 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and gathered into one deck; the chapter structure of the book is not reproduced. HTML formatting was stripped to plain text, and superscripts and subscripts were converted to the corresponding Unicode characters so that a charge or an index is not lost (H⁺, not H+; T₄, not T4). An entry was dropped when its definition is shorter than 30 characters or longer than 400 characters, when it contains an image, a table or a mathematical formula that is not reproduced here, when it refers to a figure, a table or another chapter, when it is dated by wording such as "currently" or "as of", when it is a bare cross-reference to another term, or when a superscript could not be converted faithfully. Duplicates were removed on the term and on the definition alike, both compared after lowercasing, removing parentheses and reducing plurals to singulars; a term or a definition already used by another Memoquiz deck built from OpenStax was dropped as well. Each deck is capped at 150 entries and holds at least 30. The wording of every definition that was kept is unchanged.
