Five cards from this deck

Taken from the published archive, unedited. A deck page that shows no card says nothing.

  • Front acid ionization
Back reaction involving the transfer of a proton from an acid to water, yielding hydronium ions and the conjugate base of the acid
  • Front acid-base indicator
Back organic acid or base whose color changes depending on the pH of the solution it is in
  • Front acidic
    Back describes a solution in which [H₃O⁺] > [OH⁻]
  • Front amphiprotic
Back species that may either gain or lose a proton in a reaction
  • Front amphoteric
Back species that can act as either an acid or a base

This deck was modified when it was brought in: Entries were taken from the end-of-chapter glossaries of chapters 12, 13, 14, 15 and gathered into one deck; the chapter structure of the book is not reproduced. HTML formatting was stripped to plain text, and superscripts and subscripts were converted to the corresponding Unicode characters so that a charge or an index is not lost (H⁺, not H+; T₄, not T4). An entry was dropped when its definition is shorter than 30 characters or longer than 400 characters, when it contains an image, a table or a mathematical formula that is not reproduced here, when it refers to a figure, a table or another chapter, when it is dated by wording such as "currently" or "as of", when it is a bare cross-reference to another term, or when a superscript could not be converted faithfully. Duplicates were removed on the term and on the definition alike, both compared after lowercasing, removing parentheses and reducing plurals to singulars; a term or a definition already used by another Memoquiz deck built from OpenStax was dropped as well. Each deck is capped at 150 entries and holds at least 30. The wording of every definition that was kept is unchanged.
