Harder science questions
Grade-school science exam questions from the harder, reasoning-heavy half of the ARC set: each one takes a step of reasoning rather than a fact you either know or do not. Physics, chemistry, biology, Earth and space science. Each card asks one question and answers it in full — no multiple-choice letters, no figure or table to look at, and no card resting on a date, a quantity or a number.

Five cards from this deck

This deck was modified when it was brought in: A subset of the questions was selected and each multiple-choice item was turned into a card: only the text of the correct answer is kept, the distractors and the option letters are removed. Nothing was rewritten: a card was either kept exactly as the source wrote it, or dropped. Whitespace is normalised. Dropped: questions that point at material the card does not carry (figure, table, graph, list); questions that describe the answer grid rather than the world, including every bare "Which is…"; questions that rest on United States law, regulation or geography; questions whose answer does not stand on its own once the options are gone; every card carrying a digit, and with it every date, quantity and figure; time-dependent wordings; negative questions; answers made of a single ambiguous word or a bare acronym; and cards duplicating — in either direction — a card already served by another deck in this catalogue or by another card in this one. This deck is a rebuild of a deck withdrawn from the catalogue after review found factual errors coming from the source; a later review dropped further cards whose statement was factually wrong, whose answer was only a fragment of the option grid, whose framing rested on United States vehicle regulation, or which repeated a fact already carried by another card here.
