Osmoregulation, the kidney, immunity and animal reproduction

Osmotic balance, nitrogenous wastes and the anatomy of the kidney and its blood supply, which carry most of the deck, then innate and adaptive immunity, and the modes of animal reproduction with the cleavage patterns of the early embryo. Gastrulation, the germ layers and organogenesis are not covered.

  • Vorderseite adaptive immunity
Rückseite immunity that has memory and occurs after exposure to an antigen either from a pathogen or a vaccination
  • Vorderseite afferent arteriole
Rückseite arteriole that branches from the cortical radiate artery and enters the glomerulus
  • Vorderseite affinity
Rückseite attraction of molecular complementarity between antigen and antibody molecules
  • Vorderseite allergy
Rückseite immune reaction that results from immediate hypersensitivities in which an antibody-mediated immune response occurs within minutes of exposure to a harmless antigen

Dieser Stapel wurde bei der Aufnahme verändert: Entries were taken from the end-of-chapter glossaries of chapters 41, 42, 43 and gathered into one deck; the chapter structure of the book is not reproduced. HTML formatting was stripped to plain text, and superscripts and subscripts were converted to the corresponding Unicode characters so that a charge or an index is not lost (H⁺, not H+; T₄, not T4). An entry was dropped when its definition is shorter than 30 characters or longer than 400 characters, when it contains an image, a table or a mathematical formula that is not reproduced here, when it refers to a figure, a table or another chapter, when it is dated by wording such as "currently" or "as of", when it is a bare cross-reference to another term, or when a superscript could not be converted faithfully. Duplicates were removed on the term and on the definition alike, both compared after lowercasing, removing parentheses and reducing plurals to singulars; a term or a definition already used by another Memoquiz deck built from OpenStax was dropped as well. Each deck is capped at 150 entries and holds at least 30. An adversarial reading of the deck then removed the entries whose definition is circular, restates the term without adding anything that tells it apart from its neighbours, or states something the book contradicts elsewhere; such an entry is dropped, never rewritten, because the source wording is what is licensed and no correction of ours could be attributed to OpenStax. The wording of every definition that was kept is unchanged.
